Ungaralu Teeyadam : A Funny & Jolly Element In Wedding

Ungaralu Teeyadam : The tradition of picking up the ring, also known as Ungaralu teeyadam or “Pradhananguliyakam,” adds a fun and playful element to the wedding ceremony. It involves a pot or container filled with a mixture of milk and water, and a single gold ring is placed inside.

Both the bride and groom participate in this activity. They are asked to put their hands into the pot simultaneously and search for the ring that is submerged in the milk-water mixture. The objective is to be the one to find the ring first.

Ungaralu Teeyadam & Winner

The person who successfully retrieves the ring from the pot is considered the winner. The tradition dictates that the winner then puts the ring on the finger of their partner. It is a moment filled with excitement and anticipation, as both sides of the family cheer on their respective bride or groom.

This activity serves as a lighthearted and joyful way to introduce some friendly competition between the couple. It also symbolizes their ability to work together as a team and find happiness in their shared journey ahead.
