Procedure:
- The husband holds Rama’s picture, and the wife holds paper plates, glasses, fresh water, turmeric, saffron, almonds, curd, kavamu, and salt on a plate.
- As indicated by the priest, grate the coconuts, cut the lemons into halves, and place them on the two sides of the entrance. Sprinkle turmeric, saffron, and kumkum on top, and apply saffron dots on the lemon halves.
- Decorate a bowl with turmeric and saffron, and serve milk in it.
- Boil the milk until it overflows, symbolizing abundance and prosperity.
- Clean the East-North East direction of the house and decorate it with a picture of a deity.
- Offer Pongali (sweet rice dish) as prasadam.
- Apply yellow turmeric paste on the feet of the invited guests as a sign of respect and welcome.
- Write the names of the guests and put a drop of saffron on their foreheads. Offer fruit and tambula (betel leaves and nuts) to the guests.
- Keep curd, salt, and coffee in the house as basic provisions.
- Arrange meals for the guests according to the accommodation, taking into consideration their preferences and requirements.
