Pandiri Rata : A Ritual Performed On Belief Of Blessings & Guidance Of Lord Ganesha

Pandiri Rata : A Ritual performed to initiate marriage preparations after selecting an auspicious moment. Here’s an explanation of the steps involved:

  1. Worshiping Vigneshwara: Vigneshwara, the elephant-headed deity also known as Lord Ganesha, is worshiped before beginning any important task. During Pandiri Rata, Vigneshwara is invoked and offered prayers to seek his blessings for the smooth conduct of the marriage without any obstacles.
  2. Rice bundle placement: A bundle of rice is prepared and placed in the mandapam (the ceremonial wedding platform). This bundle of rice symbolizes abundance, fertility, and prosperity for the couple’s married life.
  3. Tying and placing in the puja mandir: The rice bundle is tied with a sacred thread or cloth and then placed in the puja mandir (the place of worship in the house). It is kept there as an offering to the deities and to seek their blessings throughout the marriage process.
  4. Completion of marriage without disruption: After the wedding ceremonies are completed without any hindrances or disruptions, a ritual called “nuka” is performed. During this ritual, prayers are offered to Lord Vigneshwara, expressing gratitude for the successful completion of the marriage without any obstacles.
  5. Pouring flowers and reporting: As a part of the nuka ritual, flowers are poured over the deity’s idol or image, and the successful completion of the marriage is reported to Lord Vigneshwara.

Pandiri Rata & Belief

These rituals and offerings are performed with the belief that seeking the blessings and guidance of Lord Vigneshwara will remove any obstacles and ensure a smooth and successful marriage. They are an integral part of Hindu wedding traditions and are performed to invoke divine blessings and seek divine assistance in the marital journey.
