Poola Chendlata : A Joyous Celebration In Marriage

Poola Chendlata : Following the blissful union, the bride and groom relish a delectable lunch, and then embark upon a delightful celebration.

A resplendent blanket is elegantly spread, and they sit face-to-face, embracing the enchantment of the moment. With the groom facing the east, the festivities commence.

Poola Chendlata & Golden Chain

First, garlands are playfully rolled into delightful spheres and gracefully waved, followed by the exchange of a golden chain, symbolizing their eternal connection.

Engaging in the captivating odd-numbered game, the couple indulges in the thrill of numbers, where each rupee holds the promise of shared joy. The bride, with wit and grace, strives to decipher the mystical dance of “Saria” and “Besiya,” while the groom cherishes her every word. Should a playful misstep occur, the exchange of treasures ensues, bridging their souls even closer. As the ceremony unfolds, the groom anoints the bride’s delicate forehead with vibrant kumkum, symbolizing his eternal devotion.

In harmonious reciprocity, the Bride reciprocates the gesture, tenderly adorning the groom’s hands with fragrant sandalwood. The air becomes enchanted as the sweet essence of rose water cascades upon them, bathing their spirits in love’s aromatic embrace.

Sharing in a symbolic act of unity, the groom savors a portion of a luscious banana, while the bride completes the tender ritual by relishing the remaining morsel. Laughter fills the air, joy dances in their hearts, and love weaves its tapestry throughout this delightful celebration.

To honor the cherished bonds of matrimony, tambulam, a beautiful token of appreciation, is bestowed upon five couples. Filled with two fruits, betel leaves, and vakkalu, it serves as a gesture of gratitude from the newlyweds.

Within this enchanting tapestry, the blanket upon which they sit holds profound significance—it belongs to the groom’s sister. Through this cherished tradition, the bride’s arrival into the household becomes a celebration of love, granting her the warmth and affection she deserves, while honoring the sacred bond between siblings.
