Appadappada Thandra : A Popular Game Played By Children .The game you’re describing is called “Appadappada Tandra” or “Giri Gari.

Appadappada Thandra & How it is played:

  1. Children sit in a circle on the ground, close to each other.
  2. One child starts by resting their palm on the ground.
  3. Another child places their palm on top of the first child’s hand.
  4. Each child in the circle continues this pattern, placing their palm on top of the previous child’s hand until everyone’s hands are stacked on each other.
  5. The child who placed their hand first, using their second hand, puts their palm on the hand above all the others and shouts out “Appadappada Tandra, Aavakaaya thaandra Gangaalamma chevi pattuko.
  6. The child whose ear is under the hand mentioned in the shout takes that hand and grabs the ears of the next person in the circle.
  7. The grabbing of ears continues as each child grabs the ears of the person next to them, creating a chain.
  8. While holding each other’s ears, the children sway back and forth, saying “Giri Gari… Giri Gari.

The game “Appadappada Tandra” or “Giri Gari” combines the action of stacking hands and grabbing ears, creating a fun and interactive activity for the children in the circle.
