Akanda Deeparadhana & Marriage
Following the groom’s marriage, the esteemed Lord Satyanarayana Swamy Vratam is observed, paving the way for the grand Akhanda Deeparadhana ceremony dedicated to Lord Venkateswara Swamy.
Within the sacred confines of the home’s puja mandir, the earthen mound becomes adorned with auspicious turmeric and kumkum, radiating a divine aura. Precious cow ghee and aromatic sesame oil are carefully placed within the mound, symbolizing offerings of devotion. Filled with profound reverence for Lord Venkateswara, the newlywed couple ceremoniously ignites a resplendent lamp, casting a luminous glow that envelops their surroundings in divine radiance.
During this momentous occasion, five young boys, affectionately referred to as Bala dasas and aged below ten, have the sacred Govinda namas intricately painted on their foreheads. Encouraged to embody the spirit of Govinda, they fervently chant His divine name, infusing the atmosphere with their pure devotion.
To honor these five Baladas, a sumptuous feast is meticulously organized, where they are bestowed with shirt cloth, along with turmeric, kumkum (saffron), and tambulum (betel nut and leaves). The esteemed women attending the ceremony are graciously presented with blouse pieces, turmeric, kumkum (saffron), and tambulam, symbolizing their sacred connection to the divine.
In preparation for the ceremony, a sacred fire is kindled within the traditional vessel known as the mukudu, representing purity and auspiciousness. The groom reverently holds the mukudu, while the bride adorns herself with the aromatic smoke of sambrani, signifying her grace and blessings. Following the indulgence in a delectable feast, the attendees joyfully unite in chanting the sacred name of Govinda as they encircle the divine couple. Filled with deep spiritual fulfillment, everyone proceeds to relish a wholesome and blessed lunch, rejoicing in the divine blessings bestowed upon them.
