Avva Appachcha : A Funny & Entertaining Game Played By Children

Avva Appachcha : A Funny and entertaining game played by three children. Here are the instructions and the accompanying song:

  1. The three children stand in a circle and hold hands. They then toss a coin (or any object) to determine who will be the first to be mounted on an elephant.
  2. The child who wins the toss or ripens first gets mounted on an elephant, while the other two children become the elephant. The two children stand facing each other, with their right palms pressed to their mouths, and say “Avva-Appachcha” while raising their left hands up to form a ladder shape.
  3. Once both children have their left hands tied together, they join hands, creating the shape of an elephant with the ladder as its back. The child who is mounted on the elephant sits between their joined hands and is lifted up to be paraded.
  4. While parading, the children sing the following song:

“Enugamma! Enugu
Enugu vallu nallana
Enugu Kommulu tellana
Enugu meeda raamudu
Entho chakkani devudu”

Translation:
“Elephant! Elephant!
Elephant’s body is black
Elephant’s tusks are white
Lord Rama is on the elephant
Rama is a beautiful god.”

  1. Singing this song, the children parade the mounted child until they reach the end, where they gently drop them down.
  2. Now, the second child gets a turn to be mounted on the elephant, and the game continues with each child taking their turn
